COMPLEX
Complex is one only universe, all stories happen in one same timeline between 2006 until 2015. It all happens in Tokyo, Japan. There are four schools in-universe:
Montemei: Public Senior High school.
Yufukibo: Private Senior High school. Girls-Exclusive until 2008
Shibuya Dance Studio.
Shinjuku Junior High School: Public Junior High School, Girls-exclusive.
St.Joan Junior High School: Private Junior High School, Boys-exclusive.
Meiji Art University: Private University
Hibiku High School: Public Senior High school.
Everyone of these have different rules, uniforms, etc. So watch out for that.
GREY/GRAY
Grey (2007) & Gray (2008) take place in the same school, Montemei. Montemei has a student council that takes the role of an organizer. Events, the clubs, the students, more. They get chosen via a voting system. If the new council doesn’t win, the old council stays.
Montemei has 9 classes. The first years use a red bow/tie, second years wear a blue one, while third years wear green. Women use small bows (or big ones if they are cheerful or cute), while men use ties. However, this may change with their personality, or the context (ex: In the revolution (Grey, 2007) , revolutionaries did not use the uniform correctly. Women used extra short or extra long skits, and/or ties instead of bows, while men used elements out of the uniform. This, however, changed in 2008, where it became more common to use elements that weren’t part of the official uniform.) As for the council uniform, both men and women use a Gakuran. Montemei has different clubs, such as Tea ceremony club, Computer club, Light Music club, and more. The very own students are the one that manage the clubs along with the student council. GREY+GRAY is greatly inspired by ensemble girls/stars.
HEART
Heart (2008) takes place in Yufukibo, a private school. Yufukibo was a girl-only high school, but due to the revolution, they let men in 2008. Similar if not the same to Montemei, Yufukibo has a student council that takes the role of an organizer. Events, the clubs, the students, more. They get chosen via a voting system. If the new council doesn’t win, the old council stays.
Yufukibo has 9 classes. The first years use a yellow tie/neckerchief, second years wear a bright aqua blue one, while third years wear muted blue. Women use a sailor fuku, while men use a sailor-like uniform. Some women use pants or ties, it all depends on their personality. Yufukibo has different clubs, such as Band club, Critter club, Gardening club, and more. The very own students are the one that manage the clubs along with the student council. HEART is greatly inspired by ensemble girls/stars.
DREAM
Dream (2009) is inspired by Japanese idol culture. Shibuya Dance Studio accepts people of any age and any gender. Their uniforms depend on the student. Their classes are divided by their debut date and skills. Dream also has bandols, like KuroKami. Dream isn’t quite set in Shibuya Dance Studio, like the last 3 stories. Instead, they follow Asuka through the story. Since every group has a different aesthetic their music and uniforms vary from member to member. DREAM is greatly inspired by ensemble stars, LOVE LIVE, and Bandori.
PARADE
Parade (2010) takes place in Ikebukuro, following Wakana through the story. Since everyone in the band has different ages and are from different schools, the clothes vary a lot. They, however, are inspired by 2010 magazines & fashion. PARADE is greatly inspired by WINDBOYS
LOST
Lost (2013-2014) is inspired... if not a copy-paste of the first complex. Lost has two protagonist, therefore is split in two parts. Part one is band-based while the second part is school-based... Kinda. Clothes vary depending on their personality rather than their schools... of course, they use the uniform sometimes.
HUE
Hue (2014), similar to the last 3 complexes, doesn’t actually have a school uniform. Not even a school. Hue takes place in Meiji Art University, which is, obviously, only arts. It also has courses for people who need to prepare for an art entrance exam. Characters who are in school do use their uniforms, however the ones that are in the actual university just dress whatever goes along with their likes and personality.
CODA
Hue dress code also aplies for Coda (2011),they just dress whatever goes with their personality.
AMISSUS
Amissus (2012) takes place in Hibiku High School. Same applies for all the schools, they only have 3 grades, that split into more classes (In this case, from A to F). Unlike Grey & Heart, Amissus doesn't have a powerful council, instead the council only functions to watch over the clubs... which is only 2 clubs, Brass, and Cooking club. All three grades use the same color for their ties/bows.
